Научные исследования академической миграции всё ещё недостаточно полно раскрывают влияние различных обстоятельств на адаптацию. Цель исследования – выявить ключевые факторы успешной и проблемной адаптации сербских студентов в российских вузах и объяснить влияние на нее языковых, социокультурных, институциональных и индивидуально-психологических параметров. В период с 23 апреля по 5 мая 2025 г. был проведен онлайн-опрос 101 сербского студента относительно их адаптации к условиям жизни в России. Анализ полученных данных показал, что, несмотря на культурную близость, целевая группа сталкивается с трудностями при адаптации. При этом высокая языковая компетентность, активное социальное взаимодействие и участие в культурных мероприятиях снижают интенсивность культурного шока и повышают уровень социально-культурной и психологической адаптации. По результатам исследования предложены рекомендации практического характера: популяризация межнациональной дружбы, знакомство с российскими реалиями до прибытия. Перспективы дальнейших исследований связаны с проведением кросс-культурных сравнений, лонгитюдных наблюдений и анализом эффективности мер поддержки, что позволит корректировать динамику адаптации иностранных студентов. The sociocultural and psychological adjustment of international students is a complex process that may have several detrimental consequences, such as decreased academic motivation and challenges in integrating into the host community. Academic research on student migration still does not sufficiently reveal the influence of various circumstances on adaptation. The aim of this study is to identify the key factors that contribute to both successful and problematic adaptation of Serbian students in Russian universities. It also seeks to explain the impact of linguistic, socio-cultural, institutional, and individual- psychological parameters. Between 23 April and 5 May 2025, an online survey was conducted among 101 Serbian students regarding their adaptation to living conditions in Russia. The analysis of the data reveals that, despite cultural proximity, the target group also encounters difficulties during the adaptation process. At the same time, high language competence, active social interaction, and participation in cultural events can reduce the intensity of cultural shock. These factors also increase the level of socio- cultural and psychological adaptation. Based on the results, the following practical recommendations are offered: encourage interethnic friendships among students and provide orientation programs to familiarize them with Russian realities before their arrival. Future research should focus on conducting cross-cultural comparisons, undertaking longitudinal studies, and evaluating the effectiveness of support measures.
