o:9286 ПАМТИМ, ДАКЛЕ ПОСТОЈИМ: СЕЋАЊЕ НА ЈОВАНА СОЛДАТОВИЋА СА ОСВРТОМ НА ЊЕГОВЕ СКУЛПТУРЕ НА ТЕ РИТОРИЈИ ОПШТИНЕ ЖАБАЉ sr Ау торка се у наслову ра да поигра ва чу веном Декартовом изреком „Cogito, ergo sum!” („Мислим, дакле посто јим”), трансформишући је у „Memini, ergo sum!” („Памтим, да кле постојим”) како би нагласила важност памћења за живот како појединца, та ко и заједнице. Овом при ликом ће нас са аспекта култу ре сећања подсетити на живот и дело нашег истакнутог ва јара и хуманисте Јована Солдатовића, који је територији општи не Жабаљ завештао четири мону менталне скулпту ре, везане за трагичне историјске догађаје који су током Дру гог светског рата за десили житеље жабаљских насеља. Прва, из 1962. године, на лази се у Жабљу и посвећена је борцима Шајкашког партизанског одреда; оста ле две: Споменик деци – жртва ма ра ције под нази вом Ма теринство из 1967. и Споменик НОБ у из 1985. године налазе се у Чу ру гу (овај последњи је на потезу Трећа долма), док је скулпту ра под називом Нарикача из 1974. године постављена у Ђурђеву. Ови споменици, као места сећања на мрачне ета пе људске историје, могу да послу же као опомена, подсетник и пу товођа за будућност, чему је својим животом и делом и стремио вајар Јован Солдатовић. From the perspective of the culture of remembrance, this paper discusses the life and artistic production of the renowned sculptor from Novi Sad, Jovan Soldatović. The motive to draw the attention of the public to his legacy derives from the author’s awareness and need to repay the debt to those to whom we are greatly indebted and to point to a continuous deterioration of the artist’s legacy and work. The paper is divided into two parts, the first of which bears the title “The individual and community: between the culture of remem brance and forms of oblivion”, while the other part is titled “About the (in ) visibility of monuments The Žabalj Verticals by Jovan Sol datović“. The starting point in the discussion in the first part of the paper is the book Forms of Oblivion by Alaida Asman, while the second part is centered around the essay Monuments by Rober Musil. Dwelling on a Musil’s premise about the invisibility of monuments, the author takes a partly contrary view, emphasising the fact that not all monuments, in all periods of time, have been equally invisible. A special focus in the paper is placed on the monuments created by Soldatović in the territory of Žabalj municipality: The monument to the fallen soldiers of the Šajkaš Partisan Detachment from 1962 (in Žabalj); Monument to the children – victims of the raid named Motherhood from 1967 and Monument to National Liberation War from 1985 (all three erected in Čurug, with the third located in the area of ‘Treća rampa’ (The Third Ramp) and the sculpture from 1974 named The Lamenting Woman, placed in Đurđevo. These monu ments, as places of remembering a terrifying period of human histo ry, may also be seen as a warning, reminder and guide for the future, to which the sculptor Jovan Soldatović was indeed striving throughout his life and artistic creation.
