U radu su najpre razmatrane odredbe Okvirne Direktive o otpadu 2008/98/EC, koja čini krucijalnu komponentu politike upravljanja otpadom u Evropskoj uniji, kao i drugih relevantnih propisa u predmetnoj oblasti. Posebna pažnja posvećena je analizi Zakona o upravljanju otpadom iz 2009. godine kao najznačajnijem propisu sa aspekta regulisanja navedene materije u okviru pravnog sistema Republike Srbije. Osnovni cilj rada odnosi se na doprinos u kontekstu sagledavanja i eventualnih izmena nacionalnih propisa kojima će Community acquis u navedenoj oblasti biti transponovan u pravni okvir Republike Srbije. Abstract: Significant aspect of the accession process of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union is transposition of the legal acts of the Union in the sphere of environmental protection, including the segment related to the matter of waste management. First of all, the paper examines the provisions of the Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC, which constitutes a crucial component of the waste management policy in the European Union, as well as other relevant regulations in the subject area. Special attention was devoted to the analysis of the Law on Waste Management, as the most important act in the mentioned field, within the legal system of the Republic of Serbia.
