(HYMENOPTERA, BRACONIDAE) Institut za šumarstvo 1991 Zbornik radova Instituta za šumarstvo number: 34-35 startpage: 111 endpage: 116 Study of the influence of food and size of rearing vessels on the length of life of A. porthetriae was made in the laboratory under variable daily temperatures,. which average value in the studied period was 25.3°C. Three kinds of food were used: beebread, honey + beebread (1 : 1) and melbrosin (2 gr beebread + 25 gr pollen + 223 gr honey). The investigation was made tin test-tubes (180 X x 15mm) and glass cylinders (140 x 70 mm). The results of this investigation show that melbrosin was the most suitable food, since the wasps which were fed with this preparation have lived the longest either in test-tubes or in glass cylinders. These results also show that the wesps live longer in larger vessels( glass cylinders), disregarding the kind of food. In addition, it was established that the females live longer than the males, disregarding the kind of food or size of vessels. https://unilib.phaidrabg.rs/o:7546 ISSN: 0351-9147 Minić, Danica
