GODINE I NJIHOV UTICAJ NA RAZVOJ KULTURE ČETINARA U ISTOČNOJ SRBIJI CLIMATIC CHARACTERISTICS IN THE PERIOD 1979- 1989 AND THEIR INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONIFEROUS PLANTATIONS IN EASTERN SERBIA sr Climatically conditioned index of vegetation productivity, calculated on the basis of meteorological sta1lion Zaječar (at 137 m of sea level), corresponds to the lower limit for the regions of mean productivity. The mean values of air temperatures and precipitations in the period 1978-1989 approximately coincide with the mean values obtained during 30-year observation period. However annual and monthly values show a considerable variability, which is especially expressed by air temperatures during fall and winter months and by summer months precipitations. Although in all studied species (Austrian pine, spruce, Douglas-fir, Caucasian fir and eastern white pine) the same tendency in respect to the annual height increments in individual years was established, none causal link was discovered between annual height increments and climatical characteristics of the current year. An indicative coincidence is the appearence of unusuai quantities of precipitations in June and July of the previous year with above average height increments in the following year.
