<dc:description xml:lang="eng">For detailed studies of the state and development characteristics of dieback-
stricken black pine stands five test-plots of different stage of dying were selected:
three on the mountain of Zlatibor and two on Šargan. The size of each plot was
25x25m.
It was established that a higher percent of dead and damaged trees of the
I and II biological position was found in the unsuitable site conditions in which
also appear the reduced height and diameter increments.
A larger number of trees per surface unit has shown a positive effect in
respect to dieback occurence. For that reason in the existing plantations a more
dense canopy should be preserved and by establishing new plantations it should
be necessary to apply the procedures enabling the most rapid formation of full
canopy.</dc:description>
