<dc:description xml:lang="eng">The Japanes spruce is a new Asian conifer which began to be grown in
Serbia since 1980, when a small quantity of seeds was sown in the nursery of the
Institute of Forestry and Wood Industriy in Belgrade. The development of the
seedlings was studied first in the seed beds but also in the transplanting beds,
in which they have remained eight years, until now.
The plants are partially damaged by late spring frosts, the transplanting
beds being exposed to the south, provoking bud opening at least 20 days earlier.
The species is very decorative and because for that reason it will be used
in city park plantations, where more favourable conditions may be provided.</dc:description>
