o:7301 UTICAJ VRSTE DRVEĆA I NAČINA PRIPREME ZEMLJIŠTA NA USPEH LETNJE SADNJE KOD POŠUMLJAVANJA IBARSKE KLISURE STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF TREE SPECIES AND SOIL PREPARATION ON THE SUCCESS OF SUMMER AFFORESTATION OF IBAR GORGE sr At the end of August - beginning of September of an extremely dry year 1986, seedlings of the following species were planted: sessile oak (Quercus petraea (Matt.) Lieb 1.), Sibirian elm (Ulmus pumila L., black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.), red oak (Quercus borealis Mich.), black pine (Pinus nigra Arn.) and Scots pine (Pinus silvestris L.). The seedlings were produced in hard -platsic containers. The age of seedlings was 1 + 0. The planting was made in hand prepared soil, on the surfaces of following dimensions: 15 x 15 x 25 cm, 40 x 40 x 25 cm, 40 x 40 x 25 cm mulched with newsprint, 40 x 60 x 25 cm and 50 x 250 x 25 cm. The results of this investigation show that the survival of seedlings one year after planting is much more dependent on tree species than on soil preparation and method of planting. In unsuitable site conditions - very skeletal and shallow soil - the survival of oak and elm seedlings was 3.5, resp. 3.8 times higher, when compared with black pine seedlings.
