<dc:description xml:lang="eng">The Scots pine plantation was established in the years 1956-1957 by planting
in the furrows plowed up on the isohypses, on the site of mountanous beech
with Lusula (Fagetum montamim Lusuletosum), on a skeletal acid brown soil
on Paleozoic schists - argiloschists. On the experimental plot the combined schematic-
selective thinning was made of two intensities: moderate intensity 22.2 -
27.4% and high intensity 30. 1 - 35.8% trees from the total tree number. The
thinnings were made in the years 1975, 1981 and 1987.
The analysis of elimination of spontaneous dying out of trees has shown
that on the control parcel 29.2% of all trees, present at the beginning, were eliminated, on the parcel with moderate thinning 9.8% and on the parcel with heavy
thinning 3.9 %.
The investigation of productivity has shown that the mean age increment on
the control parcel was 8.93 m3/ha, on the parcel with moderate thinning 9.87 m3/ha
and on the parcel with heavy thinning 10.59 m3/ha. At the same time the current annual increment for the period 1975-1987 was 8.33 m3/ha on the control parcel,
10.63 m3/ha on the parcel with moderate thinning and 12.45 m3/ha on the parcel
with heavy thinning.
The analyses of diameter of the mean stand tree aiid of mean three of
dominant layer show that with the increase of thinning intensitiy they also attain
larger dimensions, what means that heavier thinnings, in the concrete case,
contribute to the optimal wood production in a shorter rotation period.
The applied thinning intensity had no negative influence on the stability of
stands, since there were no big damages of snoubreak and other abotic factors.</dc:description>
