    <ns1:language>sr</ns1:language>
<ns1:description language="en">In the article are exposed the results of a study of the influence of density
of broadcast sowing of Scots pine seeds and two provenances of black pine seeds
on seedling development, with a special reference to the root system formation.
It was concluded that the number of seedlings at the end of the first vegetation
period correlated with sowing density. The total length of plants was uniform in
both species and provenances, disregarding sowing density.
The biggest heights of the overground part have reached plants of Scots
pine, when compared with black pine seedlings of all sowing densities.
The best developed root systems were found in black pine seedlings from
Jastrebarsko, which in all sowing densities had the biggest diameters (measured
at root-crovn) and root lengths.
The anlysis of the coefficients of variation shows that the samples taken
for root-weight and number of roots of the I order, were relatively unequal in
all species and provenances.
In the experiment the densities of 250 and 450 Scots pine seeds per plot (size
of the test-plot was 0,25 X 0,25 cm) have shown to be suitable. Still the first density,
being more economic, should have an advantage over the second one. In
black pine, for the provenance Jastrebarsko the best results were obtained with
350 seeds and for the provenance Titovo Uzice 250 seeds per plot.</ns1:description>
