All rights reserved https://unilib.phaidrabg.rs/o:7153 Zbornik radova Instituta za šumarstvo number: 26-27 startpage: 45 endpage: 54 Study of the soils under remaining forests of Košutnjak and Topčidersko Brdo, as a transition region between zones of Quercion farnetto Horv. and Aceri tatarici-Quercion Z o l t. et J a c k., has shown transformation of the chernozem into gajnjacha, occuring through the phase of the ,,degraded" chernozem. On the to day's forest area of these two hills the ,,degraded" chernozem has left over mainly on the flat Topčider's plateau, although with clear indications of evolution toward gajnjacha. The largest areas of Košutnjak and Topčidersko Brdo are covered with gajnjacha which is slightly or moderately acidified. On the lime-stone sediments the rendzine and brown lime-stone soil are formed.
