  <dc:description xml:lang="eng">In the article was studied the dependance of the leafing time (X1 = Y) of
Persian walnut (Juglans regia L.) from the geographic latitude (X2), longitude (X3)
and altitude (X4) of the populations grown in 14 large regions in Yugoslavia.
The analysis of the variance has shown that the variability of the phenophase
of walnut leafing is much more expressed and depends much more on the
year of observation than on the region.
The multiple regression analysis has shown that the beginning of leafing of
this species is in a very strong multiple link correlation with the combination
of the values of geographic latitude and altitude of the analyzed regions (R = 0,8545,
F = 14,89*** with 2 and 11 DF). It can be estimated by means of the parameters
of the following equation:
Yx = -55,1006800 + 3,5454215 X2 + 0,0276970 X4
The geographic latitude has a greater influence on the beginning of walnut
leafting than the altitude, while the geographic longitude has not shown any
influence on this phenophase.</dc:description>
