IN WESTERN SERBIA, AND ITS IMPORTANCE FOR INTERPRETATION OF THE ORIGIN AND HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF VEGETATION OF THIS REGION sr On the mountain of Maljen was described a relict polydominant plant community of initial type - Ostryo-Fagetwn montanum mixtum (calcicolum) prov. On steep slopes, among big calcareous rocks, the pedogenetic product was retained in lithogenic phase, influencing together with the local microclimatic conditions a relative preservation of this forest, as an alike part of the former montane tertiary vegetation in Western Serbia.
