  <dc:description xml:lang="eng">On the mountain of Maljen was described a relict polydominant plant community
of initial type - Ostryo-Fagetwn montanum mixtum (calcicolum) prov.
On steep slopes, among big calcareous rocks, the pedogenetic product was retained
in lithogenic phase, influencing together with the local microclimatic conditions a
relative preservation of this forest, as an alike part of the former montane tertiary
vegetation in Western Serbia. It is very possible that the today&apos;s beech forests
in Western Serbia have appeared in a recent time, parallel with soil evolution,
from these relict pauperized forests (Aceri-Ostryo-Fagetum J o v., 1967; Ostryo-Fagetum
V u k., 1964. etc.).</dc:description>
