Иза сатирично-алегоријске приче Уклете земље стоји разуздана игра хомо лу-денса који утврђује симулакрумску природу реалности и поставља онтолошка питања,одбијајући да у простору властите приповедачке слободе себи одреди границу. We analyzed the role of irony, satire, farce, grotesque, and absurd in the shaping of SvetislavBasara’s fictional world using his 1995 novel „The Cursed Land” as an example. We illustrated thewriter’s relationship towards Radoje Domanović, the founder of Serbian satire, but also the writer’srelianceonpostmoderniststrategiesofshapingspaceandtimeinthenovel,aswellashisconstructionoftherelationshipbetweenfactandfiction.In„TheCursedLand”,Basaraswoopsdownontribemen-tality,totalitarianism,andparanoiddiscourse,guidedprimarilybythesubversivevalueofhisowntext,asheestablishesafirmconnectionbetweenthenovelandhisessaysfrom„TheAtlasofPseudomythol-ogy”(2018),i.e.,betweenpoliticalandliterarydiscourse.Behindthesatiricalandallegoricalstoryof „TheCursedLand”standstheunfetteredplayofhomoludenswhoteststhesimulacralnatureofrealityand asks ontological questions, refusing to limit the space of his narrative freedom.
