That is somewhat complicated by insufficiently clear criteria for their determination. Analysis of the contents of the rights to the official use of languages and scripts, also as issues related to that rights, shows that Serbian regulation went even ahead of the standards set in international instruments, even in the most optimal interpretati- on of certain standards, provisions or terms. Сажетак: Право припадника националних мањина на употребу свог језика и писма једно је од основних права која чине културну аутономију и уопште одређују положај националних мањина. Њега донекле компликују недовољно јасни критерију- ми њиховог одређења. Анализа садржине права на службену употребу језика и писама и питања која су са њим у непосредној вези, показује да је Србија својим прописима у многоме отишла чак и испред стандарда који су дати у међународним документима, чак и у најоптималнијим тумачењима појединих стандарда, одредби или термина.
