Приликом археолошких ископавања на простору манастирског комплекса у Студеници, поред цркве Светог Николе, заједно са остацима шута пронађен је и извесни натпис. Реч је о натпису који датира из XIX века, а сведочи о времену када је утврђена чесма (извор) и време када је обновљена. У раду је, на основу доступне грађе, анализиран текст натписа и околности у којима је он настао. Summary: The acquisition of the autonomy of the Principality of Serbia in 1830 also marked the beginning of the restoration of Christian shrines, not only as religious objects but also as national symbols. Th e restoration of the Studenica Monastery began in the 1830s, and, during the archeological excavations, a certain inscription was found in the area of the monastery complex. It is an inscription dating from the mid-sixth decade of the nineteenth century, testifying about the time when the fountain was built and the time when it was restored. The inscription shows that the fountain (source) was erected in 1843 by the bishop of Šabac, Maksim Savić, who in his lifetime witnessed political and dynastic turmoil in Serbia. Th e fountain was restored in 1856 by the Studenica monk Teofi l Pavlović. In the Calendar with the Schematism of the Principality of Serbia for 1856, as the abbot of the monastery was listed Teofil Popović. The authors are of the opinion that there was an error in the Calendar and that the correct surname of the monk Teofil is Pavlovic, not Popovic, as stated in the Calendar.
